Internal Rotary Broach Special Forms

Custom internal rotary broaches are available to suit a variety of applications. Polygon Solutions simply asks you to fill one of our forms or send in your requirements. You can fax, email or deliver a drawing or sample to us for a quote. Some common special broaches include:

Six Lobe Broaches

The hexalobular or Torx® style shape is commonly used for fasteners. Polygon Solutions stocks rotary broaches with common sizes of this hexalobular form for immediate delivery.
Standard vent holes help reduced pressure and machine wear during broaching.

Polygon Broaches

Special double hex, double square and other polygon type broaches are ideal for rotary
broaching. All special broaches can be made with specific teeth missing if required.

Spline Shape Broaches

A spline has a series of parallel keys or keyways and is often a good candidate for rotary broaching. Involute spline forms include a pressure angle, and can also be made into rotary broaches. See ANSI standard B92.1 and B92.2 for more information. These rotary broaches are often used to create spur gear profiles on a CNC machine without a second operation.

Serration and Star Shape Broaches

Star shaped forms with a minimal tooth height are ideal profiles for rotary broaching. Serrations may have sharp or round corners. Some well know star patterns include the SAE J500, Rosan and Torx® style. Serration broaches can also be used to create a straight knurl while rotary broaching. Your detailed drawing will help with quoting and producing these special forms.

Irregular Forms

Configurations with irregular shapes can also be manufactured through rotary broaching. Some popular irregular shapes include D and double-D forms, and irregular keyways for custom made connectors.
