Double D Rotary Broach Tool

Double D Rotary Broach‘D’ and Double ‘D’ rotary broach shapes are popular forms used for creating holes to connect shafts. Typical examples would include motor driven shafts or door handle hardware. The flat can easily be added to the end of a shaft.

‘D’ shape rotary broach tools are all custom made as no international standard exists. For quoting purposes, Polygon requires the major diameter of the form and distance to the flat. The distance to the flat can be given as a dimension from the center to the flat, or from the flat to the opposite tangent point.

Double ‘D’ rotary broach tools are also custom made as no international standard exists. For quoting purposes, Polygon requires the major diameter of the form and distance between flats. The distance between flats is usually assumed to be on center with the diameter.

Oversize pilot holes are required for all rotary broaching applications. The pilot hole will leave a small radius in the middle of the flat. This radius is often acceptable because sufficient contact is still made in the flat.
